Reflecting on February

I can hardly believe that it is March already. I know that February is a short month, but still...
Anyhoo, let's get down to business--February's reflection!

What books I read/am reading:
Hiding the Elephant: Very interesting book about the magic and magicians of the late 1800's-early 1900's. Magic is truly an art. Combined with engineering. And, a huge dash of show biz. I learned that it really is smoke and mirrors.
I Heart Bloomberg: a ebook, free from Kindle, about a young woman who decides to rent out rooms in her house. With an interesting Christian twist. So-so.
The Reason for God: This is my second time through. Doug bought me a copy after my first go-through, because I liked it so much. I really, really want to take a highlighter to it, but oh, it's so hard for me to mar a perfectly pristine page...
The Bible: I am up-to-date on my yearly plan. I love it how every time I do this, I find out something completely new. Wonderful.

Movies I watched:
Gosford Park: liked it
Groundhog Day: Doug had never seen it and we just stumbled upon it.
Calendar Girls: The TV version, liked it, too. Don't plan on ever doing anything like it, so don't worry.
And, LOST is back!!!

Health and Wellness:
My face did indeed heal up beautifully, just like the doctor said it would. I'm so glad I did it, as my nose was covered with sun damage. After all the flaking and peeling caused by the cream, it's about 2 sizes smaller!
I got a cold, but God was very merciful and it was short-lived.
I continued with classes at the gym. I tried an aqua aerobics class, but didn't like the chilly water nor the disgusting shape of the showers. Yuck.
Our diet is so much more varied with the different items we are receiving in our Manna for Life food boxes. I started a fan page on Facebook so we could share ideas and recipes.

Family and Friends:
We saw Nathan and Corrie a few times, but the highlight was babysitting Silas and Rosebud for the weekend. Nathan and Corrie went away with their Sunday School group on a marriage retreat, leaving the littles in our care. Neither one of them cried when Mom and Dad left, and they were so good the whole time. We took walks, went to the park, played in the back yard, ate lunch out on the picnic table, read books, blew bubbles... Exhausting, but great fun.
Doug and I went on only one motorcycle ride; to the barber shop and the Mexican ice cream shop. Between the rain and the kids and my cold, there just wasn't another good time.
We celebrated Joey's 34th birthday and went out to In-and-Out with both him and Lourdes.
We met Mike and Irma for dinner at Marie Callendar's, for one of the most mistake-filled dinners I've ever experienced there. I'm hoping for the Steak Corral next time!
We booked our tickets for our cruise to Alaska with Marie; we're scheduled to depart from anchorage September 12, arriving in Vancouver BC on the 19th. Lord willing.

Things I got Made/am Working on:
I finally got started on the quilt for our bedroom! I've had the fabric for 2 years, but for some reason just put it off. I cleared the calendar and went to work! I finished the top, but not without some drama (my theme of late when it comes to my sewing projects). I mistakenly began cutting out the squares for the smaller blocks, rather than the larger ones I thought I was making. God was merciful yet again, and I figured it out before cutting into the expensive and no-longer-available barkcloth. Whew... Thankfully, Charlotte convinced me to get a little extra of the batik cottons.
I am up-to-date with Project 365 and am really enjoying it.
I made several pillows for both the office and the living room. I could use a few more.
I posted several items on Precepts and Promises. I really need to work on my design skills more, however.

It was a good month. Rather quiet and uneventful, but in a good way. God is good. All the time.
Photos to come.
