I am better than that!
Really!
At least that's what I keep telling myself.
I read a story once about a woman who wanted to get her book published, but got nothing but rejection letters from dozens of publishers.
She related her disappointment to a friend, saying that it just looked like God didn't want her to publish this book.
Her very wise friend replied, that no, it just meant that He didn't want those companies to publish it. She perserved and eventually the book was accepted and successful to boot.
So, I take heart and persevere, too.
Despite going to 4 different JoAnn's stores to search for more of the elusive denim to complete my skirt.
Despite spraining my back and spending the last few days on the couch with a heating pad.
But, before that happened, I did get two garments done.
The first is a t-shirt, which should have been a walk in the park, but of course, wasn't. It is Butterick 5387. That cross-over in the front took me the better part of an afternoon to get right. It involved a lot of pinning and basting and it's still a little wonky (I smoothed it out for the photo; don't believe everything you see!).
I also got this dress, Butterick 5242, done. I knew that the neckline "V" would be too deep, so I altered the pattern to bring it up. I also changed the sleeves to a slimmer line and added a narrow cuff.Once again, while I can get the dress on quite easily, it's impossible to get it on poor Busty Babs. The hanger doesn't do it justice, but trust me when I say that it's really not a shapeless mu-mu!
I think this is the last of the fabric from my buying spree in the Fabric District. Perhaps I'll have to head back soon.... ;-)
