So, I have a lot of dresses, which I enjoy wearing, but I often have to wear a camisole as The Male wouldn't let me out of the house otherwise. Something about them being a little too low... Geesh... :-)
Anyway, that just adds another layer to my outfit, and I think I've mentioned before that I'm menopausal. Four layers (bra, slip, cami, and dress) can be a little stifling. I don't want to ditch the slip, as they make a dress just look so much nicer, gliding over the lumps and bumps and helping with the stickiness one gets from sitting in church for a long time.
And, then I had one of those wonderful Ah-HA! moments: What if I combined the slip and the cami?
A cami-slip! Brilliant!
I had both a black and white cami I bought at Forever 21, aka Forever Anorexic. I bought the Large. 'Cause I'm many things, but skinny isn't one of them. They were only $2.50, so if my idea didn't work, I wasn't out too much money. I also had 2 extra slips that I could donate to the cause.
These are the black cami and the long half-slip, which I never wore anyway. I cut off the cami to right under my bra line and cut off enough of the top of the slip to make it the right length when finished.
Then I just sewed the empire seam, and viola'! A cami-slip:
Then I did the same thing with the white cami:
This also solves the problem of camis rolling up, which happens to anyone who isn't a stick figure or who has ever had a child and now has HIPS. Woot!
Of course, I haven't worn these yet, so my delight could be premature, but I'm pretty happy!
