I have had this dress sitting in my "to be finished" basket for months now. I started it last summer, but set it aside when I made a big mistake. You see, the trouble with having sewn for decades is that one begins to think, "who needs to read instructions anyway?"
Apparently, me.
Looks simple enough, doesn't it?
Except for the fact that the one-piece neck and armhole facing requires the back to be in two separate halves, in order to turn the dress right side out through the shoulders, much like a vest is done.
This I discovered after I put in my invisible zipper, making the back in effect a single unit. An invisible zipper is hard enough to rip out, but this fabric is a linen-like weave.
Sigh.
So, there it sat, until this week.
It looks quite different on me, due to Babs' bustiness. Really, she needs a minimizer!
I think I will wear it to an upcoming wedding.
