I've been wanting to make a vest for a while now and I finally got around to it. I was fighting a cold, and losing, at the time, so I'm a bit amazed that I actually got it together without too many mistakes. Only had to rip out seams once! The fabric was leftover from a pair of pants and the lining is a cotton print from the remnant bin.
The buttons are my favorite part; they are vintage Czech. I bought a bag full at the Sewing Expo in Washington a year ago. I love buttons and these were just beautiful. A bag of shiny, black, embossed buttons of all sizes. My sister bought one, too, and when we got back to her house, we opened them both and spent a nice evening just sorting through and matching and dividing.
When I was little my mom had her button stash in pipe tobacco tins, so every time I opened them, this wonderful, clean tobacco scent would escape. I would open them often, just to sort, pile, and count. It's a nice memory for me.

Beautiful!
I like your new banner, too.
Did you wear this on Sunday?? If it is the same one you had on, it was beautiful. I was on the verge of commenting on it - loved the buttons!- but you were in conversation. I was wondering if you had made it. :) Wow . . .sickness and all. I'm truly impressed and amazed. ~Jan
